IRS WARNS TAXPAYERS TO BEWARE OF FIRST-TIME HOMEBUYER CREDIT FRAUD!
On 7/23/09, a Jacksonville, FL tax preparer, James O. Price III pleated guilty to falsely claiming the first-time homebuyer credit on a client's federal tax return. Mr. Price faces the possibility of up to 3 years in jail, a fine of as much as $250,000. or both.

The American Recovery & Reinvestment Acct enacted in February, created, extended or expanded
a variety of business tax deductions and credits. Included are bonus depreciation and increased section 179 deductions.
The bonus depreciation provision generally enables businesses to deduct half the cost of qualifying property in the the year it is placed in service. The increased 179 deduction enables small businesses to deduct up to $250,000. of the cost of machinery, equipment, vehicles, furniture and other qualifying property placed in service during 2009.
Both are claimed on form 4562.
